Edna Scofield De Mott, 98
Fanwood – Edna Scofield De Mott, 98, a retired legal secretary, died Monday (February 1, 2010) at Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains, NJ. A native of Rochester, NH, she lived in Elizabeth, NJ then Chatham, NJ before moving to Elizabethtown, KY. She moved back to New Jersey three years ago and resided at The Chelsea of Fanwood.
Mrs. De Mott was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Westfield, NJ. Over the years she was an active member serving in various leadership positions in St James United Methodist Church in Elizabeth, Chatham United Methodist Church, Chatham, and Memorial United Methodist Church of Elizabethtown, KY. In Kentucky she was also a member of the Hardin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, where she volunteered in the Gift Shop for over 35 years and received a 23, 000 hour service pin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer G. De Mott, two brothers, William A. Scofield and Elmer A. Scofield and a sister Adeline Scofield Fritz.
She is survived by two daughters, Gloria J. Brodersen and her husband, Gary, of Fanwood, and Norma J. Doyle and her husband, Michael of Walden, NY; three grandchildren, Amy Brodersen of Fanwood, Bonnie Doyle Ham of Walden, NY and Daniel Doyle of Middletown, NY and two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Molly Doyle.
Funeral services will be held at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood, on Friday at 11 A.M. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Hardin Memorial Cemetery in Elizabethtown, KY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Westfield, 1 E.
