Marion E. Cummings, 84 Retired Teacher
Scotch Plains – Marion E. Cummings, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday (January 24, 2010) at Overlook Hospital in Summit after a brief illness, surrounded by her family. Born in the Bronx, she resided in Oradell for 40 years before moving to Edison. She moved to Scotch Plains in 1999.
Miss Cummings graduated from Hunter Teacher's College and received her Masters in Accounting from New York University and her Masters in Education from Hunter. She was employed as a teacher in the Oradell Public Schools for 42 years before retiring.
She is survived by her sister, Norma M. Palmer and her husband, Donald, of Scotch Plains; her nephew Christopher Palmer and his wife, Connie, and their daughters Emily and Lucy, all of Scotch Plains; and her niece, Christina Palmer and her partner Merrel Kovats of Paramus.
Services will be held at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood, on Saturday, January 30th, at 11 A.M. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
